What to Expect

Join us on one of our best and favourite places to run a photo tour, The Dolomites in North East Italy. This tour will consist of 5 nights single occupancy hotel stay at Hotel Olympia (including breakfast) right in the heart of The Dolomites in the town of Cortina D’ampezzo.

There will be NO SET itinerary for this trip as I prefer to keep a close eye on weather forecasts throughout the tour to determine our destination and make sure we have the best possible weather that may suit a specific place. From my experience shooting in the Dolomites its best to take it  one day at a time as we were keeping tabs on the weather forecast, this gives us the best chance of getting in the right place at the right time. Weather permitting, we should have no problem shooting sunrise and sunset each day during the trip. There is a good chance we may get the opportunity to shoot some thunderstorms in our time in the Dolomites.

We may also have a chance to shoot some astrophotography if the skies stay clear.

With sunrise so early and sunset so late, there will be a couple of hours downtime in the afternoon to rest and take a walk around town if you wish. Breakfast is included, but lunch and dinner, we will get along the way as we go.

Our Guide:

My co-guide for this trip is the amazing William Preite. William is a fantastic photographer with an amazing portfolio of images from the Dolomites, especially in Summer Bloom. You can check out William’s work on Instagram here

Fitness level
This trip requires no great fitness level, although one of our locations, Tre Cime, does have a two hour hike along a mountain path to our shooting location. All other places are within easy walking distance of our bus.

Transportation

You will be transported throughout the tour in a comfortable, spacious 9 seater bus starting and finishing at Milan Bergamo airport.

Weather

Sunrise: 5.45am

Sunset: 8.45pm

It will be warm in the Dolomites in July, we can easily expect temperatures in the mid 20s, however when shooting early morning and late evening we should avoid the warmest weather in the middle of the day, pack clothes for summer but also some warm clothes too as it will be cold before sunrise and after sunset. It is also very possible we will experience some clear night skies so there is a good chance of some astrophotography in some of the worlds darkest skies whilst witnessing the Milky Way in all its glory. A hat, scarf and gloves wouldn’t be a bad idea either just to be sure. This promises to be an amazing week of photography in a truly picture perfect part of the world. We hope to see you there…
