What to Expect

Join us for a night under the stars shooting the Galactic Core of the Milky Way on the South Coast of Ireland. Obviously this workshop is weather dependent. Ireland doesn’t experience a lot of clear skies so picking dates for workshops can be tricky. August is a prime time to shoot the Milky Way.

There was no plan to do any Astro workshops in Ireland this year due to my international schedule, I was due to be in Africa for the month of August but that has had to be rescheduled until 2021. This has freed time up to run some Irish workshops so I have decided to run two Astrophotography workshops in August along the South Coast at either Hook Lighthouse or The Copper Coast,  I will decide the exact location a couple of days before the workshops and email a pin for a meeting point then. If you plan to stay down the night of the workshop, I would use Waterford City as a base to stay for flexibility as its roughly half way between Hook and The Copper Coast.

The plan is to get to our location nice and early, an hour before sunset, we could even shoot sunset, get to know the area and sus out potential compositions before dark.

The workshop will commence at 8pm and will run until approximately 2am-3am

August 14th Workshop

This workshop is planned for Friday 14th August, but please keep the 15th & 16th free incase we need to reschedule due to cloud cover. This gives us the best possible chance to run a successful workshop and boost our odds of clear skies. We will meet for this workshop at 7.45pm

August 21st Workshop

This workshop is planned for friday 21st August, but please keep the 22nd & 23rd free incase we need to reschedule due to cloud cover. This gives us the best possible chance to run a successful workshop and boost our odds of clear skies. We will meet for this workshop at 7.45pm

Flexibility

I am also fairly flexible to potentially run these workshops mid week if forecasts allow also but we can keep in touch and hopefully we will get the weather to run them on the scheduled dates.

After the workshop you will also receive an Astro editing tutorial video to use at your own leisure after the workshop. This will be emailed to you the night of the workshop.

Please note*

Should we not get the weather we want to run the workshops, you will be issued with an online voucher for the amount paid to use on any future workshop or tour, this online voucher will have no expiry date.

Transportation

Should you need transportation from the Red Cow Luas Stop on the evening of the workshop, I will be picking people up at 6pm sharp.

The cost of this is €25pp

Once the workshop is completely you will be returned here to your cars.

Parking here is €4 for 24hrs

Get in touch here to reserve a place on the bus

Weather

Ireland isn’t exactly known for its sunny weather, but what it can be known for is the amazing light, stormy seas and moody clouds. No matter what the weather, you can be sure we are in the right part of the country to capture what ever mood is thrown at us. As the weather is so unpredictable in Ireland its impossible to set out a definite itinerary until we actually start the workshop, I will however be keeping a very very close eye on the weather throughout the day to make sure I get you in the right place, at the right time, for the right light.
