What to Expect
Join us for five days of photography paradise on the incerdible Lofoten Islands, Norway. This tour will consist of five nights camping in the amazing mountains on the islands. We also have amazing self catering shared accommodation booked for some rest during the days in between hikes or if the weather is not favourable in the mountains for camping. The cabin is in the heart of the much loved and picturesque village of Hamnoy in the famous red cabins. These cabins are the heart of everything Lofoten has to offer, all you need do is step outside the door and be greeted by some of the best photo compositions in the world.
Some of the mountain paths can only be accessed by boat, generally getting a boat over in the evening and returning the next morning. While hiking in the mountains we will bring our camping gear, pitch our camp at the bottom of the mountains before ascending the mountains for some Midnight Sun light. After shooting, we will return to camp to get some well earned sleep. In the event of severe weather, we have our luxury cabin to fall back on, generally we will sleep for a few hours during the day in the cabin, as we will be shooting alot through the night, just getting a few hours sleep in the tents. The cabin will give us good chances to recover and prepare for the next mountain.
Apart from the mountains, we will also have time to visit some of the Islands most famous spots too. Although there are many tourists this time of the year, there is actually very few photographers and the mounatins, almost empty of people at night when we shoot.
My route to the Lofoten Islands is…
Dublin-Oslo-Bodø by plane with Norwegian airlines, from Bodø airport, I collect the car and get the ferry that night from Bodø to Moskenes, Lofoten Islands.
After landing in Bodø at 7pm, we can have a wait of about 6 hours for the ferry, si it will be ideal to go for food and a drink in Bodø town centre.
As our ferry back from Moskenes departs back to Bodø around midnight, and docks about 3.30am, we will check into a hotel for 6/7 hours to get some sleep and freshen up before our flight home at 3.30pm
