What to Expect

Day 1: Arrival in El Calafate by mid afternoon. Meet and greet then we will make our way to Perito Moreno Glacier to shoot ice calvings and sunset. We will then return to El Calafate for the night.

Day 2:Early morning departure (about 8am) to Chile. The drive is approximately 5 hours to Puerto Natales. We will stop here for and get any food, drink or hiking gear for the National Park (Its much cheaper to buy food & drink outside the National Park). After lunch we will drive out to Torres Del Paine National Park where we will spend a few days, shooting sunset the evening we arrive.

Day3-6: The following days we will aim to get to the best places for sunrise along the trail to Mirador Cuernos, Salto Grande, the many compositions along Lake Pehoe and many others. These will be determined depending on weather conditions.

Day 7: After sunrise in the morning and breakfast at the hotel, we will pack up and go back to Argentina. This time we will bypass El Calafate and go straight for the hiking capital of Argentina, El Chalten. We will aim to arrive here by the afternoon. We will then get to see the famous Cerro Torreand Cerro Fitzroy skyline that is synonymous with Patagonia.

Day 8-12: The following days we will base ourselves in El Chalten. Every night we have a hotel booked for your comfort. However, some of the best locations are 8-12km on trail from the town so if conditions allow, we will pack our hiking gear and head out along the trails to shoot Fitzroy from Laguna Sucia, Laguna De Las Tres, a very secret waterfall and various other cascades. On the other side of the park we can go up to Loma Del Piliegue Tumbado or to Laguna Torre in search of frozen foregrounds, cascades and the impressive peak of Cerro Torre.

Day 13: On the last day we will endeavour to get out and shoot in the morning. If the conditions are great we can hike the 5km to shoot the waterfalls at Fitzroy. After that we will return to pack and check out of the hotel. The drive back to El Calafate airport is 2 hours, you will be dropped back here and the Photo Tour will end.

Remaining balance details & T&Cs can be found here.

Please Note:

Accommodation for this trip is based on sharing with a person of the same gender, should you require single accommodation, it is an additional cost of €500. Please email me after booking if you require single occupancy.

A good level of fitness is required for this trip, the trails aren’t difficult but the fitter you are the more enjoyable your experience will be. We could be walking 5-6km at times to some spots if the weather allows.

Meeting & Transportation

This tour will Start and finish at El Calafate Airport in South Argentina.

Please arrive before 1pm on first day of the workshop on April 15th. I would recommend arriving on the 14th of April to allow for any potential delays.

Once the workshop starts we will have two 9 seater buses ready to commence the tour. This will ensure maximum comfort for each individual throughout the trip.

The weather in the Patagonia in April can be anything from mild, calm weather to cold, snowy weather, so prep is key! Shooting in the Patagonia can be very tough as it is prone to strong winds and sideways rain. Given the challenges of shooting here warm clothes and waterproofs are a must here, as temperatures can drop suddenly when the sun goes down. Temperatures can range from highs of 10-15oC to lows of 5/6oC or even below freezing at times.

Perito Moreno Glacier, Rio Serrano, Lago Pehoe, Explora, Dead Trees, Salto Grande, Cascades, Lago Nordenskjold, Road Shot, Secret Gorge, Lago Torre, Torre Cascades, Rio Cascadas, Laguna de Los Tres, Laguna Sucia, Loma del Pliegue Tumbado.

Obviously weather plays a big part in shooting landscape photography, weather permitting, these are just some of the places we will be visiting on the tour.
