What to Expect

There will be NO SET itinerary for this trip as I prefer to keep a close eye on weather forecasts throughout the tour to determine our destination and make sure we have the best possible weather that may suit a specific place. We will shoot sunrise and sunset on all days while in Slovenia. Locations are all quite close so luckily we wont have to spend hours in the bus from place to place. As sunrise is around 7am this time of the year we will be able to shoot sunrise and come back for breakfast at the guesthouse, have a few hours break to chill, then heading out for the remainder of the day from aboit midday until sunset, which is at 5.30pm. We are ideally located to shoot the absolute best of what Slovenia has to offer with amazing hill top churches, spectacular gorges and amazing mountains and waterfalls. Food and drink is NOT very expensive in Slovenia, given we have breakfast included makes it even better. This promises to be a tour not to be missed…

We will base oursleves in a beautiful, spacious and brilliantly located self catering apartment just a couple of minutes walk from Lake Bled. Each person will have their own room which is comfy, warm and spacious with towels and shower gel/shampoo included.

I will arrive to Ljubljana Airport at 12.45pm on the 15th of February. Please be in Ljubljana Airport no later than 2pm. We will arrive back to the airport at 5am on the 20th of February. (This is an estimate, should times change drastically , I will inform you as soon as flights are released)

Please Note: Should this trip not go ahead due to Covid19, we will reschedule or you will be issued with an online voucher for the full amoiunt including the deposit to use on any future tour or workshop.

You will be transported throughout the tour in a comfortable, spacious 9 seater bus starting and finishing at Ljubljana airport.

The weather in Slovenia can be anything from mild, calm weather to cold, snowy weather, so prep is key, although in April it can be quite pleasant with highs of 16/17 degrees C. Warm clothes are a must here, as temperatures can drop suddenly when the sun goes down. A hat, scarf and gloves wouldn’t be a bad idea either just to be sure. This promises to be an amazing week of photography in a such an stunning part of the world. We hope to see you there.

Also some personal favourites I have found while I was there…

You will learn about shooting in manual mode, slow shutter speed, ISO settings, Aperture priority, the use of filters, why the polariser filter is so important and learning to get the best compositions (thinking outside the box)

You will also learn the use of sunrise, sunset & astro planning apps.

You will need a DSLR with manual mode, a sturdy tripod, grad, polariser & ND filters.

I would strongly recommend a wide angle and zoom lens (24-105 and/or 70-200) lens for this workshop.

Full frame Wide Angle: 12-24mm or 16-35mm etc…

Crop sensor Wide Angle: 10-20mm or 11-16mm etc…

You will also need good walking shoes, wellies, warm clothes, waterproof clothes and a shower cap (to put over camera in rain)

If you need some loan filters for the workshop please let me know well in advance of the trip here

YES YES, The rumours are true… We do have a knack of getting our groups in the right place at the right time, ensuring you capture a truly memorable shot you can cherish for the rest of your life. To us, capturing “the shot” is important but just as important is to enjoy the experience, when we get to a location take a minute to breath in the fresh air and really appreciate the views around us.

The bus is a long wheel base, full air conditioned, extremely spacious and has ample USB charging points. On our tours abroad we also mostly book 9 seater buses and with groups no bigger than 5 or 6, ensures plenty of space and comfort!
