I signed up for the Isle of Skye tour after watching Bernard present at 53 Degrees North and viewing several weeks of hilarious Instagram stories. To be quite honest with you, I signed up for more of the “experience” of a trip than for photography. I mean, I almost failed my photography course in college. So before the trip, I obviously voiced my concern about my inferior photography skills to Bernard. He recommended supplies that I would need, while helping me find the best value. He also reassured me that I would get decent shots, even when I really didn’t believe him at the time. And guess what? I got some really good pictures, saw incredible scenery, and had loads of fun! It still amazes me how Bernard can literally look at the same landscape as you and find an incredible composition that you would just dismiss. He knows his stuff, is really passionate, and ensures a good time. I highly recommend joining one of Bernard’s tours as you won’t be treated as a once-off customer, but lifelong. So whether it’s for the views and company or actual photography, you won’t regret money well spent.
This was my second workshop with Bernard and so far so good. I did the Dingle and Copper Coast workshops back to back. Both were great trips and Bernard was a great tutor. He knew all the spots and is passionate about photography. He helped a lot with my compositions and made sure everyone was well looked after with constant tips, tutoring and advice. He even had spare gear which was great. I have another trip booked for next year and have my eye on a few more. Would highly recommend a trip with Bernard.
'm just back for the most insane 11 days in the arctic with Bernard! The planning that went into this trip was incredible and was worth every penny. He helped me purchase all new gear before i left to suit what I'd need for the trip and really helped me to develop my skills on the ground in the Norway. The group was such good fun that we had on this trip and I honestly did not want to come home. Don't think twice about booking a tour with Bernard. His ability to give you an experience of a lifetime is something you cant put a price on. You're guaranteed to walk away with increased confidence in your own skills and pictures that can be hung on your wall to last a lifetime. Bonus - He's sound as a pound and group tours are small which allows for a more personable experience.
Bernard ensured our trip to Slovenia was a great success. His knowledge of how the sun would move across the various locations gave us the best possible chance to capture some lovely images. His enthusiasm and friendliness set the tone for the group. I learnt a lot and I'd definitely go on another trip with Bernard - which says it all.
Isle of Skye Tour This was my 3rd workshop with Bernard and by far the best of the bunch! Skye is a must visit location for any landscape photographer and there's no better man to show you around than Bernard. We had incredible conditions on the way to Skye while driving through a snow covered Glencoe and the scenes were epic! It only got better once we landed on Skye and seeing the Fairy Pools in classic moody conditons was a big highlight but by far the best of the trip was hiking in the Quirang and finishing at the Needle. Although we didnt get to hike to Storr, this more than made up for it and surpassed all expectations i had for the Quirang and when the weather broke and we got some incredible light while at the Needle and came away with some great shots. Learned so many new techniques about composition and just simple small details to improve my photography so much. The accommodation we stayed at was great and really comfortable and close to the town of Portree where there are many good spots to get a bite to eat and a drink after a long day of hiking and close to most of the iconic locations on the island. I dont think ive ever laughed as much while on this trip, so much so we had to nearly stop the car because we couldnt stop (moment you had to be there for!), we all got on great as a group and it made the trip even better. I couldn't recommend Bernard more for a workshop and Skye just has to be seen, im already looking forward to going back as soon as i can and cant wait for Iceland and the Dolomites later on this year too!
I would definitely recommend anyone to go on a workshop with Bernard, I did the one day Wicklow workshop and it was great. He is very relaxed and always there to offer a helping hand or bit of advice without ever feeling like you are being hassled. It was a relaxed atmosphere on the day, yet you were kept busy at the same time. Bernard would always be ready with some tips on your composition etc and how he thinks you could improve.
The Dingle workshop was awesome! I felt I truly experienced the real Ireland by going to this... Thanks Bernard and the gang for a grand time...
Spent a day in Wicklow with Bernard, Melissa, Claire, Kevin and Declan. I can only highly recommend his tours or workshops, If you beginner or advanced does not matter, guy has knowledge and knows locations, he is funny too. 5*experience
