I'm just back for the most insane 11 days in the arctic with Bernard! The planning that went into this trip was incredible and was worth every penny. He helped... me purchase all new gear before i left to suit what I'd need for the trip and really helped me to develop my skills on the ground in the Norway. The group was such good fun that we had on this trip and I honestly did not want to come home. Don't think twice about booking a tour with Bernard. His ability to give you an experience of a lifetime is something you cant put a price on. You're guaranteed to walk away with increased confidence in your own skills and pictures that can be hung on your wall to last a lifetime. Bonus - He's sound as a pound and group tours are small which allows for a more personable experience.read more

I have no hesitation in recommending anyone to go on a tour or workshop with Bernard. His enthusiasm is infectious and second to none. I recently returned from... my first trip to the Isle of Skye with Bernard, he has a great knowledge of the area and can take you straight to a good shooting location without having to scout around for a spot. The accommodation was perfect and transport comfortable. I look forward to booking again in the future. Thank you, Bernard, for a great trip!Updating review to add that I have since done an Astro workshop with Bernard which was amazing, I have come to learn that Bernard's uncanny knack of predicting the weather comes from the fact that he himself is a force of nature!read more

I travelled with Bernard twice now and can’t wait to book a third trip. His knowledge of the areas we visited is second to none and he gets the best from these... places no matter what the weather is like. I’ve no idea where he gets his drive and energy from but it definitely feeds through the group. From beginner to advanced he always has tips and tricks for every level of photographer. All in all, it’s a 5-star experience and I’d highly recommend his tours.read more

Well, what can I say, Bernard is a real gentleman and his expertise is second to none. Went on a trip with Bernard and a great group of people, the craic we... had was unreal and I enjoyed every minute of it and Bernard was always on hand to offer help and guidance when needed. Definitely one of the best things I've ever done and I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to go on one of his tours. Now I'm super excited for my next three trips with Bernard and many more adventures to come!read more

Just completed part of the Donegal Photography tour. Been wanting to go on one for ages. I highly recommend going on a tour with Bernard. He has an absolute... wealth of knowledge. He quickly identified my level of skill and guided me in the right directions. He was on the money with locations and I never felt rushed. Bernard is a very social person and makes you feel like one of his mates from the off. If you have any reservations about booking a tour my advice is to reserve your spot ASAP as its brilliant fun and the results I got are some of my favourite photos I've ever taken.read more

Workshop: Lofoten Islands

BGLT Review

I have just returned from my first overseas trip with Bernard, a visit to the Norwegian Lofoten Islands.

Having wanted to see and photograph the Northern Lights for many years, I had booked with Bernard for his Lofoten workshop and hoped to fulfil another bucket list item. The forecast for the week of the trip was pretty grim with rain, wind and generally very unsettled weather - not a great outlook for seeing the lights.

The weather turned out to be as forecast with warnings for wind, rain and flooding. Not to be deterred, Bernard thrived in these conditions, and his ability and willingness to do his best for a good outcome for his clients was evident from the start.

Helpful, patient, passionate about his craft, funny, a teacher, a driver, and many more attributes, are all evident in abundance with Bernard.

Despite various levels of ability in our small group, Bernard took the time to make sure everyone was challenged to improve, got the most from our outings and did so while making sure we all managed to have our own space but also that we got the shots we were after.

Sunrise shoots followed by breakfast and a discussion for the day ahead was the format for most days. Given the weather we experienced, flexibility of plans was an important factor and frequently we adjusted we maximise our chances of getting worthwhile shots.

Bernard is easy going but also very professional in his style. Safety was always a key factor in all the locations we visited, and regular reminders of key safety points took place.

We managed to experience great light for sunrise, snowy mountains, beautiful reflections, thundering waterfalls, pristine beaches, blue hour outings, moody skies and on two occasions, the beautiful lights of the Aurora.

On the second opportunity we had to see the Aurora, Bernard had us chasing around the small roads of Lofoten, navigating running rivers, boggy fields and rocky beaches, leaving us feeling like true Aurora chasers, and with a great outcome.

The group was small and this meant Bernard could spend time with each of us, helping build our knowledge of landscape and Aurora shooting, a stark contrast to some of the other guided groups we came across where participant numbers were in the high teens and clearly challenged to get their shots in conditions that were fast changing. This reinforced the fact that Bernard is focused on his clients and their experience versus going for high € return.

Our group gelled from the start and we had more laughs in those few days than you could imagine, again aided and encouraged by Bernard. Thanks to my fellow photographers - Catherine, Colette, and Derville for the great week and the opportunity to learn, laugh and most importantly make new friends.

Given all I have written, it’s probably no surprise that I would recommend a BG Landscape Tours trip and hopefully it won’t be long before I’m on my next one.

Thanks again Bernard for a fabulous week.

Workshop: Tollymore

I'd been meaning to book a workshop with Bernard for years and finally did a workshop in Tollynore with him last week. It was a brilliant day! Bernard is an excellent tutor and has so much to offer people no matter what stage you're at in photography. He's also got a great personality and makes the day so much fun as well. Couldn't recommend his workshops highly enough, thank you Bernard!

Workshop: Sloveo

Just back from Slovenia trip with Bernard and what an amazing trip. Slovenia lived up to its name…. Beautiful scenery - a photographer’s paradise. Can’t recommend Bernard highly enough. His knowledge of the area & weather patterns alone make the trip. He brought us to all the usual hotspots and to some unknown areas where we had the place to ourselves, making it even more special. Have tonnes of photos to edit! And to top it off, the craic was mighty. Even came home with some new tunes for the playlist !

Workshop: Connemara

Great workshop around Connemara with Bernard. Some absolue gem locations and we had some pretty good conditions too which was a bonus. Bernard is a good laugh and I had a blast on the day out.

Workshop: Connemara

Bernard Geraghty is a one-in-a-million type of person. I have just returned from his Connemara workshop where I had a truly wonderful and memorable time. There can’t be anybody who knows more about landscape photography and locations than he does. This, however,is only a tiny part of the man. His enthusiasm for his craft is infectious. I have returned home wanting to do nothing except take pictures. The other three people on the workshop were all returning customers. This comes as no surprise. I am a little farther on in years than I would like to be but this made no difference as Bernard pays great attention to everybody. The best bit of all though - the guy is great craic and created a wonderful atmosphere among the group. I have already started restocking the piggy bank with my next Bernard Geraghty trip in mind.

Workshop: Isle of Skye

I signed up for the Isle of Skye tour after watching Bernard present at 53 Degrees North and viewing several weeks of hilarious Instagram stories. To be quite honest with you, I signed up for more of the “experience” of a trip than for photography. I mean, I almost failed my photography course in college. So before the trip, I obviously voiced my concern about my inferior photography skills to Bernard. He recommended supplies that I would need, while helping me find the best value. He also reassured me that I would get decent shots, even when I really didn’t believe him at the time. And guess what? I got some really good pictures, saw incredible scenery, and had loads of fun! It still amazes me how Bernard can literally look at the same landscape as you and find an incredible composition that you would just dismiss. He knows his stuff, is really passionate, and ensures a good time. I highly recommend joining one of Bernard’s tours as you won’t be treated as a once-off customer, but lifelong. So whether it’s for the views and company or actual photography, you won’t regret money well spent.

Workshop: Dingle & Coppercoast

This was my second workshop with Bernard and so far so good. I did the Dingle and Copper Coast workshops back to back. Both were great trips and Bernard was a great tutor. He knew all the spots and is passionate about photography. He helped a lot with my compositions and made sure everyone was well looked after with constant tips, tutoring and advice. He even had spare gear which was great. I have another trip booked for next year and have my eye on a few more. Would highly recommend a trip with Bernard.

Workshop: Slovenia

Bernard ensured our trip to Slovenia was a great success. His knowledge of how the sun would move across the various locations gave us the best possible chance to capture some lovely images. His enthusiasm and friendliness set the tone for the group. I learnt a lot and I'd definitely go on another trip with Bernard - which says it all.
