What to Expect

This will without doubt be one of the best weeks of photography you have ever had…

Finland, what a place. The frozen landscape, beautiful wooden cabins, amazing water rapids with flaoting ice, gorgeous food but most of all, special people. Of all my travelling running photo workshops over the last 8 years I have sledom come acorss so much generosity and kindness as the Finnish people.

During our stay we will spend our 6 nights in an airbnb right in the centre of the small ski resort of Ruka. This airbnb will consist of 5 bedrooms a spacious living area for down time, a large kitchen for cooking and dining, 3 bathrooms and even a sauna. The cabin is located close to the ski resort, all shooting locations, restaurants and super markets.

On this workshop we will be taking in the wonders of the frozen forests, river rapids with snow heavy trees leaning over the canyons along with amazing wooden cabins on the riverside. Weather dependant we will also spend a day at a world famous eagle hide. This will be a memorable experience of just us and nature.

We may even be able to sneak some snow mobiles on a guided adventure close to the border of Russia to shoot another frozen forest. This will be decided closer to the workshop and will be an extra, pay on the day adventure.

A non refundable deposit of €400 will be required to secure your place on this trip. Remaining balance must be paid no later than 5 weeks prior to the trip..

Transportation

You will be transported throughout the tour in a spacious 9 seater starting and finishing at Rovaniemi Airport.

Please be at the airport no later than 2pm on January 9th

The tour will end at 11am on January 15th when we arrive back to the airport.

Weather

The weather in Finland at this time of the year can be bitterly cold. On my recent trip in January 2024 we had -32 celsius for a couple of days. This was extreme and not too common but  temperatures can be expected normally to be down to -20 celsius.

With this, clothing is super important. Layers, layers, layers. Hand warmers are also a game changer too while in Finland in winter. They are a must.

Although very cold, it is a dry cold and weather tends to be quite settled with little wind.
