What to Expect

This workshop is limited to just 3 people

All of our accomodation are hotel stays with each person having their own room and breakfast is included in all bookings.

March 7th-8th

After our arrival we will drive just over 90 minutes to our first hotel in Hella. We will get there in good time to check in, get some dinner and go for a sunset shoot.  Sunset will most likely be this beautiful water beside you here if your looking at this on a laptop/desktop. Should we have clear skies, it will also be our place for shooting the Northern Lights on the first night.

March 8th-10th

The next two nights will be spent close to the town of Vík on the South coast. There are so many places to shoot around here, especially popular spots but also plenty of lesser known spots too. We will be staying at Hotel Katla just 5 minutes from Vik where there is plenty of places to eat, shops and have coffee.

March 10th-12th

We will spend the next two nights in the town of Hofn, on the South East of Iceland. We will stay in the new and beautiful Hofn Hotel.. From here we will be right beside the iconic Vestrahorn mountain, its little brother Eystrahorn and more! Hofn has some really nice restaurants for eating out in the evenings also.

April 22nd-23rd

On our last night, we will make our way back the town of Selfoss. We will stay in the Selfoss Hotel. This will be our last night and we will aim to get back here in good time to shoot sunset at Haifoss in the Icelandic Highlands on our last evening. From Selfoss we are only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Keflavik Airport and we will aim to be at the airport for 6am on the 13th. My flight home to Ireland is 7.40am.

All accommodations are single occupancy for everyone so no sharing rooms with other participants. We also have breakfast included every morning at each hotel. I will have us well placed to shoot the Northern Lights in some iconic locations. So be prepared, if the weather allows, to chase the Northern Lights!

I will arrive to Keflavik Airport at 2pm on March 7th, Please arrive no later than 3pm on the 7th. We will be back at Keflavik airport at 6am on March 13th. I have a new Land Rover Defender or Toyota Land Cruiser booked for this trip so this will give us maximum space, comfort and confidence driving in winter conditions.

There will be NO SET itinerary for this trip as I prefer to keep a close eye on weather forecasts throughout the tour to determine our destination and make sure we have the best possible weather that may suit a specific place. In my experience of spending time in Iceland, we always took it one day at a time as we were keeping tabs on the weather forecast and it worked a treat. We got some great conditions including amazing sunrises and sunsets most days aswell as amazing nights of jaw dropping northern light displays.

Weather

The weather on Iceland can have anything from crazy snow and ice, to mild, pleasant conditions in September. Iceland is also prone to the odd storm, so strong winds can also be expected. These winds can create amazing scenes to photograph. From my eleven previous trip to Iceland, we got the most amazing light during the day and then to top it all off, most nights we were out shooting the Northern lights with some EPIC displays. It is very possible we will experience some clear night skies so there is a great chance of Northern lights with some amazing foreground interest. This promises to be an amazing week of photography in a truly picture perfect part of the world. We hope to see you there…

What they said…

“Paul O’Brien”

Recently back from a wonderful trip under the expert guidance of Bernard. We explored Icelands south coast and were looked after brilliantly throughout the 5 day trip. Bernard always does his very best to make sure the group gels and also will leave no stone unturned to try and get everyone to get their dream shots. We experienced incredible Northern Lights on 3 out of 4 nights. The trip was also a lot more than just photography, and many a laugh and a couple of beers were shared along the way too.

“Albert O’Donnell”

I’m just back from 5 days in Iceland with Bernard. For anyone thinking of doing one of his trips I can’t recommend him enough, from his enthusiasm to his all round personality and ability to keep everyone wanting more even when the weather doesn’t play ball, we did a lot of driving and weather watching to make sure we were in the right place at the right time and even got the most amazing northern lights display, an amazing experience ill never forget and looking forward to my next adventure on one of his amazing tours, Thanks for a cracking trip man!

“Brid O’Neill”

Just back from an amazing week in Iceland with Bernard. I have done a few trips with Bernard over the years and they get better and better. As always the craic & banter was class and just added to the experience. But the best part about this trip had to be the Aurora. 3 nights we were treated to this unforgettable phenomenon. But this didn’t land in our laps…. Bernard went above & beyond and did trojan work chasing these lights. He drove well out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted. If you’re considering a trip like this you really need to be flexible and go with the conditions. We were more than happy to trust Bernard’s experience & instinct and change plans where needed and boy were we rewarded. Thanks a mill again BG, and roll on Lofoten & Greenland!!!!

“Gareth Nathan”

Bernard is a master of photography and a patient teacher and guide willing to go above and beyond to help folks level up and achieve the photographs they aspire to. I recently attended one of his workshops in Iceland and he went to extreme lengths to deliver the best locations, working extremely hard to track weather conditions, drive to remote and off the beaten track locations day and night. He ensures you gain photography knowledge, achieve amazing photographs, eat well and sleep comfortably. What a gem, I highly recommend booking some time with him on one of his workshops.
