What to Expect

We will spend our entire time in the beautiful Rosedale Hotel. Each person will have their own room with breakfast included each day. The hotel is situated in the centre of Portree, the main town of the Isle of Skye, close to all shops, cafes and pubs.

There will be NO SET itinerary for this trip as I prefer to keep a close eye on weather forecasts throughout the tour to determine our destination and make sure we have the best possible weather that may suit a specific place. I have found in the past  that this strategy has worked very well in our favour on many occasions.

We will start and finish the Photo Tour at Glasgow airport. Please be at Glasgow airport no later than 8am on March 5th 2026. From there you will join me in a spacious 9 seater bus for the remainder of the trip. From there we will travel to Skye via Glencoe, getting a few hours shooting here, possibly even sunset depending on conditions. Once we get to Skye we will spend all three nights here at the same accommodation. On Sunday the 8th we will shoot sunrise then make our way back to Glasgow Airport via Glencoe and shoot sunset. We will arrive back to Glasgow Airport no earlier than 6pm where the tour will finish.

A deposit of €200 is required to secure your place on the trip. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 5 weeks prior to the start date of the trip. I will email you a link for you to pay the balance in your own time.

Fitness level
This trip requires a moderate fitness level, The Old Man of Storr is a 45 minute moderate hike and The Fairy Pools and Quiraing are a 30 minute walk.

Transportation

You will be transported throughout the tour in a comfortable, spacious 9 seater bus starting and finishing at Glasgow airport.

Please be at Glasgow airport no later than 8am on Thursday 5th March 2026. We will finish the tour, also at Glasgow airport at 6pm on Sunday 8th March 2026.

Weather

The weather on the Isle of Skye in March will no doubt be dramatic, we may even have SNOW!!! Weather permitting we will get sunrises (sunrise 7am) and sunsets (sunset 6.15pm) on all days we spend on the Isle of Skye. By night, should weather favour us we are just a stones throw from epic dark skies to shoot if we’re really lucky, THE NORTHERN LIGHTS!!!

Learnings

You will learn about shooting in manual mode, slow shutter speed, ISO settings, Aperture priority, the use of filters, why the polariser filter is so important and learning to get the best compositions (thinking outside the box)

You will also learn the use of sunrise, sunset & astro planning apps.

Crop sensor Wide Angle: 10-20mm or 11-16mm etc…

Why book with us?

YES YES, The rumours are true… We do have a knack of getting our groups in the right place at the right time, ensuring you capture a truly memorable shot you can cherish for the rest of your life. To us, capturing “the shot” is important but just as important is to enjoy the experience, when we get to a location take a minute to breath in the fresh air and really appreciate the views around us.

Not convinced?

When you book a trip with us, you get to sit back and relax. while we do all the driving. For our Irish workshops we have our very own Volkswagen 9 seater shuttle bus. The bus is a long wheel base, full air conditioned, extremely spacious and has ample USB charging points. On our tours abroad we also mostly book 9 seater buses and with groups no bigger than 5 or 6, ensures plenty of space and comfort!

Still not convinced?

Thanks to our amazing sponsors Whelan Cameras, 53 Degrees North & Formatt Hitech Camera Filters we have spare equipment like tripods, gore-tex jackets and pants and plenty of spare filter holders, filters and even shower caps to keep the camera dry during showers. All this equipment is readily available on our Irish workshops, should you need anything on an international trip, please just email us here to arrange this.

What they said…

“Michael Flanagan”

I’ve just returned from Bernard’s workshop on the Isle of Skye and Glencoe recently. This is the first time I’ve been on one of his trips and have to say he was brilliant. I found him very enthusiastic and full of energy, very keen to ensure everyone on the trip had a great time, and we did. Bernard managed to keep us all in suspense at the end of our day by not revealing the following day’s sunrise location until he was satisfied conditions were right. He wanted to make sure we got the most out of that location once we arrived there. He was very happy sharing tips on compositions etc, for us to get the most out of the shot. One of the many highlights was a boat trip out of Portree to photograph White Tailed Eagles, it was an amazing experience. Between seascape, landscape and wildlife it was a fantastic trip. I can’t recommend Bernard highly enough, so much so I’ve booked another couple of trips with him this year and next.. Roll on our next adventure..

“John O Neill”

Just returned from an amazing photography workshop to the Isle of Skye. It was my first time travelling since the pandemic and I came back with some wonderful memories, some new friends and a renewed appreciation for Bernard and how he goes about his craft. He is totally focused on making sure you have the best experience possible regardless of the weather conditions, your photography experience or equipment levels. His knowledge of compositions and his ability to read the weather to find the best light are just uncanny, You will learn loads and have the best of craic at the same time. I could not recommend Bernard highly enough, In fact have already booked another trip for 2023. Can’t wait!

“Orla Flemming”

Just back from the most fantastic workshop in Skye with Bernard and I couldn’t recommend booking with him highly enough. Everyone I know who has been on a workshop with Bernard has booked another one with him as soon as they could, which really says more than I could in a review. He goes above and beyond to make sure you get the best out of every location, will help you with whatever area you want to improve on, will motivate you to get the best out of every situation and makes the workshops so much fun to be on. You will not regret booking with him and I will bet it will end up only being the first of many tours with him that you will do! Thank you Bernard!
