What to Expect

Join us for a week of photography paradise on the incerdible Lofoten Islands, Norway. This tour will consist of six nights, self catering accommodation. We will have two cabins, this will ensure everyone has their own room. The cabins are right in the heart of the much loved and picturesque village of Hamnoy. These famous red cabins are at the heart of everything Lofoten has to offer, all you need do is step outside the door and be greeted by some of the best photo compositions in the world. This accommodation is extremely cosy, clean, has amazing cooking facilities, its spacious and has very fast wifi.

This workshop is limited to just 3 people.

A non refundable deposit of €650 is required to secure your place on this trip. Remaining balance must be paid no later than 5 weeks prior to the start date of the trip. Once you book, I will create a group chat with all the workshop participants and I can send links to pay remaining balances at a time that suits you.

Please be at Leknes Airport on the Lofoten Islands no later than 11pm on January 25th.

There will be NO SET itinerary for this trip as I prefer to keep a close eye on weather forecasts throughout the tour to determine our destination and make sure we have the best possible weather that may suit a specific place. In my experience of spending time on the Lofoten Islands, we always took it one day at a time as we were keeping tabs on the weather, chasing the light not the locations.

Please be at Leknes Airport no later than 11pm on the 25th of January 2024.

From here you will be transported throughout the tour in a comfortable, spacious 4×4 starting and finishing at Leknes airport. We will aim to fly out of Leknes on the night of January 31st or early morning on February 1st 2024

This will be decided when the flights are released.

The weather on Lofoten tends to have freezing temperatures and snow around the the end of January. From my eleven previous trip to Lofoten, we got the most amazing light during the day and then to top it all off, most nights we were out shooting the Northern lights with some EPIC displays. It is very possible we will experience some clear night skies so there is a great chance of some Northern lights with some amazing foreground interest. This promises to be an amazing week of photography in a truly picture perfect part of the world. We hope to see you there…

Also some personal favourites I have found while I was there…

You will learn about shooting in manual mode, slow shutter speed, ISO settings, Aperture priority, the use of filters, why the polariser filter is so important and learning to get the best compositions (thinking outside the box)

You will also learn the use of sunrise, sunset & astro planning apps.

You will need a DSLR with manual mode, a sturdy tripod, grad, polariser & ND filters.

I would strongly recommend a wide angle with f2.8 minimum aperture for nights sky photography and zoom lens (24-105 and/or 70-200) lens for this workshop.

Full frame Wide Angle: 12-24mm or 16-35mm etc…

Crop sensor Wide Angle: 10-20mm or 11-16mm etc…

You will also need a head torch, good walking shoes, cheap crampons,  wellies, warm clothes, waterproof clothes and a shower cap (to put over camera in rain)

If you need some loan filters for the workshop please let me know well in advance of the trip here
