What to Expect

Join Luka Vunduk for an unforgettable Autumn adventure in beautiful Slovenia and Croatia. This workshop will run from October 11th-17th 2025. This is prime time for Autumn colours. This will include 4 nights in Slovenia and 2 nights in Croatia. We will take in places like Lake bled, The Julian Alps, some AMAZING churches perched on mounatin tops and the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with the most beautiful waterfalls. This isn’t just a photography workshop, this is an experience of photography, food, coffee and the wonders of nature. Weather permitting, we will aim to shoot sunrise and sunset everyday on the workshop.

Day 1, October 11th 2025

Please arrive no later than 2pm to Ljubljana airport. This will ensure we get to our hotel at Lake Bled with good time to check in, go and shoot sunset and get back to the hotel after for a welcome dinner.

Day 2-5, October 12-15th 2025

We will stay in Slovenia until the 15th. During this time we will photograph all Slovenia has to offer during these peak autumn conditions.

Day 5-7, October 15th-17th

On the morning of the 15th we will make our way to stunning Croatia where we will base ourselves around Plitvice Lakes National Park photographing the most spectacular waterfalls during this amazing time of the year.

Day 7, October 17th

After sunrise and breakfast you will be dropped to Zagreb airport at 1pm on October 17th and the workshop will finish.

Meet Luka

Luka is a multi award winning landscape photographer based in Slovenia. I have worked with Luka on workshops previously and I could not think of one other person more suited to running this workshop on behalf of Bernard Geraghty Landscape Tours. Luka is a Canon ambassador but what impresses me most about him is his ability to deal with people, both in a group and individually.

While with Luka you are guaranteed to come home with spectacular images but as an added bonus you will also come away with an experience full of fun, learning, laughs and new friends.

Transportation

You will be picked up from Ljubljana Airport no later than 2pm on October 11th.

From there you will be transported throughout the workshop in a large 9 seater van

You will be dropped off at Zagreb Airport at 1pm on October 17th and the workshop will end.

Weather

The weather in Slovenia and Croatia can be cold or quite pleasant in October. I would suggest bring clothing as if it were an autumn day in Ireland or the UK.

Temperatures can easily range from 5/6 celsius in the morning/evening  to 18/19 celsius in the afternoon.

Locations

Lake Bled

St Tomas

Sv Jakob

Vintgar Gorge

Plitvice Lakes

Also some amazing, lesser known personal favourites Luka has found while living in Slovenia.

Learnings

The most important part of photography is composition. This will be our main focus throughout the week. Once compositions are found, settings will be next up. Luka will offer tips on all aspects of landscape photography to ensure you get the best images possible.

You will learn about shooting in manual mode, slow shutter speed, ISO settings, Aperture priority, the use of filters, why the polariser filter is so important and learning to get the best compositions (thinking outside the box)

You will also learn the use of sunrise, sunset & astro planning apps.

Equipment

You will need a DSLR with manual mode, a sturdy tripod, grad, polariser & ND filters.

I would strongly recommend a wide angle, f2.8 at least and a zoom lens (24-105 and/or 70-200) lens for this workshop.

Full frame Wide Angle: 12-24mm or 16-35mm etc…

Crop sensor Wide Angle: 10-20mm or 11-16mm etc…

You will also need good walking shoes, warm clothes, waterproof clothes and a shower cap (to put over camera in rain)

Why book with us?

YES YES, The rumours are true… We do have a knack of getting our groups in the right place at the right time, ensuring you capture a truly memorable shot you can cherish for the rest of your life. To us, capturing “the shot” is important but just as important is to enjoy the experience, when we get to a location take a minute to breath in the fresh air and really appreciate the views around us.

Not convinced?

When you book a trip with us, you get to sit back and relax. while we do all the driving. For our Irish workshops we have our very own Volkswagen 9 seater shuttle bus. The bus is a long wheel base, full air conditioned, extremely spacious and has ample USB charging points. On our tours abroad we also mostly book 9 seater buses and with groups no bigger than 5 or 6, ensures plenty of space and comfort!

Still not convinced?

Thanks to our amazing sponsors Whelan Cameras, 53 Degrees North & Formatt Hitech Camera Filters we have spare equipment like tripods, gore-tex jackets and pants and plenty of spare filter holders, filters and even shower caps to keep the camera dry during showers. All this equipment is readily available on our Irish workshops, should you need anything on an international trip, please just email us here to arrange this.
